International flights to French Polynesia

Coming from the US, Canada or any country from South of America, you will need to take a plane to get to The Islands Of Tahiti. If you are not hurry you can sail on a boat, but you will need time… a lot of time! You have to know that if you wish to travel to Bora Bora without a stopover in Tahiti (which we would not recommended)  you will at least need a connecting flight in Tahiti.

There are few airlines heading to French Polynesia:
  • Air Tahiti Nui- company created by the government, with flights available from 9 major cities such as Paris, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Auckland, Sydney, Noumea and Seoul
  • Air France- Historical French Company offering flights from Paris
  • Air New Zealand- flights from New Zealand
  • LAN Airlines- For the ones who wish to fly from South of America
  • Hawaiian Airlines- This airline has only one flight a week from Hawaii on Saturdays
  • Air Calin- flight from New Caledonia

Depending on your departure point, it will be more or less interesting to choose an airline than another. This is why we advise you to get more information by contacting one of our agents.

A stopover in Tahiti is not mandatory

After a [long] flight to Papeete, your luggage in hand, and having passed through customs, you will be able to check in to Bora Bora. But only if your flight has arrived early in the morning. This is why we advise you to stay at least one night in Tahiti. This island has a lot to offer and the richness of the inner island is too often unknown to foreigners. That night could be the occasion to recover from the jetlag with a massage from one of the Spas of the resorts. Or you can also explore the inner island with a 4WD safari and discover the valleys and waterfalls of the main island.

From Tahiti to Bora Bora

There are not many ways to travel to Bora Bora from Tahiti. The luckiest can book a private Jet or a Yacht, the adventurous who can take the time have the possibility to book a sailing cruise, and for the other ones Air Tahiti offers domestic flights (50min for the average flight).
Keep in mind the distance between Bora Bora and Tahiti is around 260 kms, it is not possible to book a taxi boat between those two islands though.

If you opt for Air Tahiti flight, you will land on a motu (islet). You will have to take a shuttle boat to go to the main island or directly to the Resort you will stay at.

For your information, any booking made by our travel experts includes this shuttle service.
