Two ambiances in one same lagoon

Everyday - Raiatea, Taha'a

Tahaa, Raiatea

Raiatea -Tahaa, the perfect couple

On one side, Raiatea the large one: at a 45 minute flight from Papeete, with a great number of Air Tahiti rotations, 12000 inhabitants, and a surface area as large as Tahiti, it is the administrative center of the Society Islands. A young, dynamic island that still maintains its joyous, insular atmosphere with friendly, welcoming people. A clean, well-maintained island with its impressive, unique volcanic terrain, and above all a landscape that is beautiful in good and bad weather alike, like the mystical setting of Faaroa river in the mist, which leaves no one indifferent, or the Wall of Waterfalls (18 in total!) that only reveals itself when it rains. Since there are no beaches, the locals go to the surrounding motus or to Tahaa for the day. A very important historical past, with the marae Taputapuatea, very fine craftsmanship, a bit different from that of Tahiti, and an emblem: the endemic Tiare Apetahi flower, which only grows on Mount Temehani Rahi, accessible by hiking. A wide range of activities for young and old alike, always in small groups, authentic family pensions, small, quality hotels, and very good restaurants make this island a destination of choice for those in search of discoveries.

On the other side, is Tahaa the tranquil one: A preserved island with lots of charm, flower gardens, luxurious vegetation, a population of around 5000 inhabitants, smiling and authentic, who live to the rhythm of fishing, tuber farming, vanilla and tamanu plantations, and pearl farming. Blue monochrome on an immense lagoon that has nothing to envy that of Bora Bora, and far less exploited...being the only ones around, meeting rays and sharks takes on another dimension! And lastly, magnificent motus with beautiful white sand beaches where a few luxury hotels have ventured.
From one to the other, no flights but a simple boat trip, lasting from 30 to 45 minutes depending on the final landing point: half a day saved!

4 nights of discovery, exchange and adventure on Raiatea, followed by 3 or 4 nights of leisure on Tahaa offer a relatively complete and accurate overview of the Society Islands: this is the perfect compromise between exploration and relaxation.
